How to Buy land and build a house in Mexico
This will be our first house build, anywhere on planet earth. But I jump ahead.
Many of you may be looking for greener, freer pastures these days, and Mexico has all of that. It’s pretty amazing, actually. Maybe after this, you will decide to join us for a spell. After perusing the library and online offerings, there are some pretty outdated books on the subject, so I thought I’d help you out with some better reading material.
We moved to Mexico two years ago and it took us about… a year to really score the land that fit our criteria. Once the word was out we were in the market, every taxi driver and gas attendant wanted to show us their family’s piece of land. I believe overall the tally was fifty houses or pieces of land. Eventually we settled on a specific area of the Chica Coast. I use the term “we” loosely, since I petered out at about 23 previews and my wonderful partner didn’t seem to tire of the adventure.
It wasn’t until, exhausted, we gave up the hunt. Maybe it wasn’t meant to be. But then, our lovely wine shop owner reminded us that we still had not seen her land…and that’s the message here.
